Service Dog for Joey
Deschamps Corner General Store and Pendragon Acres U.S. K-9, Inc. had a benefit concert, featuring The Clazmatics classic rock band with a guest appearance, Curtis Gray, from American Idol Season 11. The concert benefited Joey Vega, a husband and father who suffers from epilepsy and seizures. He is progressively getting worse, and is in need of a seizure detecting/alert K-9.
Amanda Vega (Joey’s Wife) turned to us here at Pendragon Acres U.S. K-9, Inc. in desperate need of help. We get frequent requests for assistance, but Amanda’s determination & Joey’s willpower stood out. Amanda is on a mission to do whatever it takes to help her husband Joey. She began doing fundraisers on her own. She created a GoFundMe page, and a Facebook page, Joeys Epilepsy Journey.
Amanda and Joey are actively involved in making this benefit concert happen! They are speaking to the community, getting vendors, gift baskets, etc. If you would like to be a purveyor or donate a gift basket please call her at 352-340-7075.
And the upmost, warmest gratitude to Donna and Mike at Deschamps Corner General store, for hosting this concert outside their store on their acres of land. Donna and Mike are actively preparing, and setting up a portion of their land for the community to come out and support Joey.
And of course, Captain Michael Giannetti, with the experience, knowledge and ability to train his German shepherds, to detect seizures before it happens and trains the K-9 to seek help and assist if it is happening. It’s not easy, and it’s not a cookie cutter process, the training is individualized to each person and it takes hundreds of hours of training to accomplish. But with the communities help we can do this for Joey!
And a continuous THANK YOU, to the musicians, trainers, community and each and every “behind the scene” individual for your help in making this event happen!
